The Society
The Genealogical Society of Utah is dedicated to gathering, preserving, and sharing genealogical information throughout the world. Established in 1894, it is an incorporated, nonprofit educational institution entirely funded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Its headquarters are in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA with local representatives in all parts of the world.

Programs

The Society is known worldwide for its microfilming program and for its libraries and Internet site that make family history information easily available.

Preservation Technologies

The Society's microfilming and digital imaging technology programs have preserved millions of volumes of manuscript materials. It shares its expertise through training seminars, technical publications, and participation in international standards associations.

Worldwide Activities

Local representatives can provide information on the Genealogical Society of Utah’s programs and activities. Collection statistics, brief histories of the Society’s activities, and the events and information of cooperating organizations are available for many countries. The first public notice of newly acquired records appears in the Family History Library Catalog.
